I’ve been interested in photo collage as a modality for storytelling since I took a Basic Adobe Photoshop course with Professor Stephen Marc at Arizona State University in 2004. Marc’s book “Passage on the Underground Railroad” is a collection of digital photo montages documenting the routes traveled by fugitive slaves in their search for freedom.
Twenty years post-graduation, I have traveled to numerous political hotspots, including Afghanistan, Cuba, Haiti, Lebanon, Palestine, Cyprus, and Turkey- countries whose futures are often shaped by U.S. foreign policy. My multilayered narrative collages weave together images to tell stories about local and global social issues.
As a cat lover and rescuer, I regularly incorporate photographs of cats into my work.
